Project 8
This
course has proven to quite challenging for me but I made it finally.
Prior to this course I would have had no idea how to link things
let alone create a website. My technological skills are very slim.
Before this class the only things I could comfortably do on the
computer was email, use microsoft word, and powerpoint. Those
three things were about as technologically savvy as I got. I do
feel as though I learned a lot from this course because of how little I
knew prior to taking it. Alanna Hartman helped me a great deal and took
time to explain to me how to make links work and why they might not be
working. The class moved rather quickly because of obvious time
constraints so Alanna took time outside of class to assist me with
explaining how to do the projects we were assigned. I honestly cannot
thank her enough. Through Alanna's personal time spent with me I feel
as though I much more technologically savy and could use a lot of what
I learned as a future teacher.
Once I grasped how NVU worked it was relatively easy to use and
navigate through. I had no idea what NVU even was before taking
this class. I learned rather quickly how important it is to save your
work and that every image must be saved as well or it will not show up
on your page. I have to say that trial and error during this class did
teach me a lot. I really enjoyed making my photostory becuase it
allowed you to be creative and use pictures of your own to show off to
your fellow classmates. I also really liked watching other
students photostory's as well. You are with these people everyday
but a lot of them you still don't really know. So I thought it
was fun to watch their own photostory to see what their life is like
outside of school. I had never worked with PhotoStory 3 for windows and
found it to be the easiest and most fun project we had.
I am really excited that I now know how to create a webquest. Although
it was rather challenging to get all the pages to link in the beginning
they are all working now. This was a group project so I think
that part of the problem with our pages not linking was because we sent
them to each other over the internet. Had we all been able to
work off of just one computer this may not have been the case. I
can definitely see myself creating webquests for my class to use when I
am a teacher. Kids today are so into computers they would love to be
able to go online and check out Ms. Allores webquest. I think
that a webquest could also be a great way to relay information to
parents on things and activities you are doing in the classroom. Many
parents are exrememly busy and if they could just go online to see
whats going on in their childs classroom, this might be a more
effective way to get information to them.
After all the frustrations I am proud to say my ePortfolio is done. I feel as though I learned so much. In this course it was important to have fun and learn from others.
To have a safe environment and share your work and have it shown on the internet. I found that it is a great tool to
have students teaching and helping each other. I think it was great to see how my classmates were willing to lend a hand and explain questions I
had especially, Alanna. This
course will help me because I realized how important it is to have
other students help each other. As a future teacher I want my students
to be able to experience this as well. I find that working in small
groups is beneficial in student learning. I love seeing how far
I have come with my ePortfolio and that all of my links are working and
feel as though I really learned a lot.
