Math In Math we are learning about Place Value.  This includes determining which values are greater and which are less and rounding. Common Core Math Standards

Social Studies We are learning all about New York State throughout the 4th grade year.  This month we are becoming familiar with our textbook, how to find useful information, beginnning Chapter 1, and looking at important cities, lakes, mountains, and other geographic features in our state. English Language Arts At the beginning of the year we are starting our first unit in Treasures and this includes learning important reading strategies such as making inferences through reading and analyzing story structure including character, plot, and setting.  In our writing we are beginning to write about a "glimpse at a small moment" by taking looking at details and how to capture our reader's attention through descriptive language. Science We are beginning our magnetism and force units.  We will be making hypotheses and looking at the forces of attraction and repulsion as we experiment with magnets and force. Common Core Science Standards
