Project #5:
Microsoft Word Project

Annotation for Project #5

There were various functions on Microsoft Word that were used to complete all three parts of this project.  For part one, we created a word acrostic poem using Word Art on Microsoft Word.  We were shown how to vertically set up our name on the page.  Then our instructor gave us describing words to insert on word starting with each letter in your name.   I had to do this for other classes and never know how to set it up on the computer so I just make them free hand.  I really enjoyed creating this acrostic poem.  This could be a great introductory activity I could use in my classroom as away for all the students to get to know one another.  These poems can be shared in class and displayed around the room so that the students and families to enjoy them.  I was so excited to learn this technique.

The second part of this project was an educational handout.   This was also created on Microsoft Word .  I included a yellow star border and  yellow star watermark on my handout.  A water mark is a feature on Microsoft Word, in the handout.  The watermark allowed a picture to appear as the background.  You can chose to have it bright or faded.  The washout feature will fade it.  I made up a handout that I feel will be useful in my future classroom.  I made a handout that say "You are a Star"  and left room for the children to put a picture of them selfs on it and write little about themselfs.  Then we would hang them up in the classroom one child a week and they can tell the class little about them selfs.  I feel that learning how to do this particular project will be beneficial to my future classroom.  There are many different things we can use this program for such send a family letter, calender or just a reminders home.
The third and last part of Project 5 was to create trading cards.  We used the table feature to insert a table that was 2 columns by 10 rows to create math trading cards.  I made a total of 20 cards one had the number 1 on it and the matching card spells out one. I have that from one to ten.  I had never used the table feature before so I tried to make it simple.  I will definitely use this feature in future projects and in my future classroom.
