WAITERS	A mnemonic device to remember the usage of the imperfect.
W	WEATHER-        we use weather in the imperfect tense to describe what the weather was like.  It is used to describe what the weather        is like at that moment.  Weather in the imperfect is used for setting a scene. Hacía buen tiempo. Estaba soleado.
A	AGE- Tenía diez años cuando iba a la escuela nueva. Tenían trece años cuando conocieron su amor.
I	INTERRUPTION of an action INTENDED action Quería asistir el concierto de mi banda favorita cuando me di cuenta de mi trabajo. Estaba caminando cuando llovío.
T	TRAITS         Used to describe characteristics of someone or something. Ella era baja. La casa era roja.
E	ENDLESS or continuous action        We do not know exactly when this action started or when it will end. Caminaba por el parque. Practicabas el fútbol antes de la escuela.
R	REPETITIVE actions        Past actions that took place multiple times in the past. Yo visitaba a mi abuela de vez en cuando. Ellas comían el helado cada lunes.
S	SETTING (&TIME)         What is the setting of scene? La vista era bonita. Las aves estaban voleando. Eran las dos. Era la una y media.

C	Completed actions        We know, exactly when something started and ended.  We know the length of time. Compré una botas nuevas de la tienda el martes. I bought new boots from the store on Tuesday... I only bought them once, it is an action that has been completed. Escribiste un poema de amor el año pasado. You wrote a love poem last year... We know what and when it happened.
S	Sequence of events or actions in a story        When we tell a story, we use a sequence of events to describe what happened. For example in a biography... Señorita Connelly nació en siete de marzo.  Ella vivió en la casa de sus padres durtante los años 90. Ella asistió el colegio y aprendió español.
