Project 10
Reflections on EDU 314: Teaching with Computers
I learned alot from this class. I
have grown more comfortable with technology as a result of taking this
class. I can use a computer- I know the basic stuff about websites and
how to write a paper using Microsoft Word, but I learned alot more than
I thought I would about other programs that I didn't even know existed.
It was really frustrating, especially creating webpages using N
vu.
One thing I really enjoyed in this class was
learning how to use all the programs I didn't know before. There are so
many things you can do on a computer, many of which I knew nothing
about. I think the only programs I had used prior to taking EDU 314
were Microsoft Word and Powerpoint. I never head to use anything
else, but I am glad that I know how to use a variet of different
programs as a result of taking this class.
The only negative thing I can say about this class
was the amount of group work. I do like working with groups, but I
don't think it was beneficial in this type of setting. Having different
people in the group doing different webpages, and then having to upload
them onto everyone elses site was a really big inconvenience, and I
thought it was kind of unnecessary. I thought that only one person
should have to have a link to the project on their site, and then
everyone else could just link their project to the completed one. I
think we would have all benefited more if all the projects were
individual, since the people with more technological know- how tended
to take over.
Overall, I think this class will be beneficial to me
as a future teacher. Although I am not an expert in most of the
programs we worked with, I now have the basic knowledge to use them and
integrate them into my classroom. Technology is such an important part
of our society now, and I think it is going to help me alot now that I
know how to do more than justopen up a website and navigate the
internet. I learned many new and valuable things in EDU 314, many that
I will take with me through my teaching career, and the rest of my life.
