Teachers use technology to enhance their productivity and professional practice. Teachers:
  1. use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
  2. continually evaluate and reflect on professional practice to make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of student learning.
  3. apply technology to increase productivity.
  4. use technology to communicate and collaborate with peers, parents, and the larger community in order to nurture student learning.

After reviewing V. Productivity and Professional Practice under the NETS for Teachers, I feel that it is extremely important for a teacher to demonstrate competency in this particular category. I think that it is important for a teacher to treat anything in his or her career as professional. Therefore, technology should be practiced also in a professional manner. Technology can be utilized as a great way to make a teachers life easier. It is a way to help them display and organize information for themselves and also for their students. When information is displayed in an organized, well equip manner, then the information looks professional.

Under the category of Productivity and Professional Practice falls technology being a lifelong resource to develop professionalism. Technology is constantly developing and changing as time progresses alongside our careers as educators. It is extremely significant for teachers to keep up with technology growth, not only for the purpose of knowledge, but as a professional aspect throughout their careers. Teachers must also always reflect upon their professional careers in every aspect of what they teach, including technology. By doing so this is away for them to evaluate themselves as technology teachers and adjustments that need to aspire from this. Thirdly a teacher must apply technology in order to increase the productivity of their practice. If you don’t apply the knowledge that you gain then you are unable to further more knowledge. It is the job of the teacher to model for the students their knowledge of technology. Last under the category of Productivity and Professional Practice is a teacher must use technology as a way to communicate with others. Technology is a great way to display communication in a professional way to parents, factuality, students, and community members, in order to enhance students learning.

There are many ways a teacher can display competency under the category of Productivity and Professional Practice. For example teachers can utilize technology to make PowerPoint slides to present and communicate information in a professional way. Teachers can also use technology to reflection upon themselves as professionals in technology. They can create a file that contains strictly reflections from technology teachings. The teachers would be able to work on the reflections at home or at school, by using a zip drive.

NETS for Students:

5. Technology research tools
  • Students use technology to locate, evaluate, and collect information from a variety of sources.
  • Students use technology tools to process data and report results.
  • Students evaluate and select new information resources and technological innovations based on the appropriateness for specific tasks.
After reviewing the Technology research tools under the NETS for Students, I feel that it is extremely important for a student to demonstrate competency in this particular category. I think inorder for a  student to be successfull in all areas, it is important to have a good fundation in understanding technology research tools. Therefore technology research tools should be taught throughout curriculum and practiced. This tool can be carried out through educatoin and become a lifelong skill. Technology is so important to keep up with  as time goes on. Students will not only need to be able to have the skills of technology in school or out in the real world, but for their personal lives as well.

There are many  ways a teacher can infuse technology research tools into a curriculum. For example a teacher could tie technology into a social studies concern or a science concept and have the students research their topic through a webquest. With the information that have gathered students can proceess it. To tie in math skills students can create graphs to process the information and display a way to report their results.
