Task #6: Now that you have read the book, I want you to read two of the book reviews, one positive and one negative.  What aspects of these two arguments do you agree with?  What do you disagree with?  What words are used in each review to sway people to one side or the other?  Do you think that it is important to consider the source when reading a book review? Why or why not?  When you are finished, pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

Book Reviews are important for writers because it lends credibility to their books and can give the push to stardom for a book.  There are many people that will use book reviews to boost the net book that they will be reading; if a book gets a bad review it can be extremely detrimental to the success of the book.

The powerful use of words in these reviews promotes either a positive or negative representation of these books.  The “word choice” truly does affect the person reading the review and can be highly influential.

A final component to consider is the reviewer of the book; are they from a well established company , or is it just somebody writing a review on a blog.  Both sides should be taken into consideration, after all, blogs can be created by anybody and sometimes it seems that the typical citizen would be much easier to relate with than the editor that reads hundreds of books a year, right?
