About Me

This reflection is based upon the article titled "Schools, teachers behind in technology use". This article describes how students are at a technological advantage over teachers because of their consistent daily interaction and inquisitive use of computers. What makes this advantage counterproductive is the lack to up to date technology, hardware, and software, available to both students and educators in our school systems. This is due to constant budget constraints place on a school districts fiscal budget.

This article was not surprising to me. Many teachers have a hands-off approach to computers. I think many of them feel intimidated by learning a new technology and choose not to learn about how to use them for their own benefit and in the classroom.  As a previous member of a Board of Education I also know first hand the budget constraints placed on a school district and the difficulty in trying to balance all the academic needs of students. Technology is a very expensive endeavor for any school district.
