SWBAT ( Student will be able to)

1. Using target language students will be able to identify and pronounce the names of various shopping items found in shopping list.

2. Students will be able to understand vocabulary words related to today's topic.

3.Students will be able to use the words " this and that" and ask questions using "is" and "how".

4. Students will be able to answer questions in practice assignments and write their own grocery list.

Materials

A "shopping list" and the article, "Healthy Grocery Shopping List"

Handout of with words and pictures to today's lesson

Procedures:

1. Preparation Phase (pre -reading/listening): Review shopping list; class and I will read the article on "Healthy Grocery Shopping List".

Ask students to think of their own grocery list and what kind of food would they select.
Explain healthy eating from article.
Give students a handout of grocery list and the above article.
Read article out loud.

2. Identify main idea - Ask students:

Why do we need to eat healthy?
How healthy do they eat?
Is fast food good and healthy for them?

3. Identify details - grocery items

Repeat to partner the names of the items on the shopping list.
students will fill out their own shopping list.

4. Organize and revise main ideas and details?

Check the shopping list.
Clarify the categories on grocery list.

5. Recreate the text

Write a few questions (2-4) about grocery items learned in class today?
Write or copy some or all vocabulary words.

6. React to text

Complete Practice one (1) and two (2).
