Project #10:
Reflections on the Journey of Learning About Technology

I was not sure what to expect when I first enrolled in this class.   For the most part I felt that I was computer literate on all of the basic computer programs.   I must say that I was a little intimidated when I looked at the coarse syllabus and saw all of these new computer programs that I knew nothing about.

Fortunately our professor was able to teach us to use these new programs in a very helpful way.   She explained all of the complicated programs step-by-step for the whole class.   When someone did not understand a program, or part of the program, our professor was very patient and always willing to help.

I learned so much from this class that will help me in my future teaching career.   I thought I knew all of the basics about Microsoft Office.   After taking this course I realize that I really only new about Microsoft Office Word.   After taking this class I now know how to use all of the complements of the Microsoft Collection, which I know I will be using in my future career.

Nvu was another program that I learned about that I was not previously familiar with.   Through this class I was able to learn how to use Nvu to create WebPages.   This is a skill I will use in the future because I plan on creating a classroom website once I get a teaching job.   WS_FTP was also a new program to me, and also one I will use in the future to be able to upload information onto the World Wide Web.

I found the Web Quest project to be the most difficult simply because we had to work in groups.   I personally find group work to be very helpful, but in this case it presented more of a challenge for me.  This project required each member of the group to create a webpage, and then combine all of our WebPages into a website.  T he problem my group had with this was transferring all of our information from one persons computer to another’s.

The project that I really enjoyed was the Digital Photo Story.   I enjoyed this because I was able to create something that meant something to both me and my friends.   I feel that I will definitely use this program in the future.
