For
our Web Quest Project we were required to take information
from our science class and use it to create a website for a particular
biome.
Katy, Jess and I worked together to create the Alpine Tundra. We still
need add
in a lot of information but the basic design is complete. For this
project we
learned how to use vertical navigation. Previously we were only able to
use horizontal
navigation formats. Now when we create projects in the future, we can
choose between
the two because we are familiar with both.
To
help our "students" to get a realistic idea of what the Alpine Tundra
looks like we needed to use Google images to find pictures. We also
used WS_FTP
to publish our site when we were complete.
I
think that this is a great way to put information into a fun format.
Children
love to use computers, and if I have access to computers in my own
classroom I
will definitely create websites like this one to help educate my
students.
Students learn better when they are actively engaged in their learning.
I think
that it would be a good idea to have the students work in groups to
create
their own websites. They would not necessarily have to create biomes
but the
whole process is a learning experience.
