2. Why using multimedia in the classroom?
There are many reasons to use multimedia in the classroom. Students not only gain educational knowledge but also build life long skills as well. Some of these skills include working as a team, sharing ideas, listening to others, communication, research, planning, express feelings and use feedback constructively.
3. What steps are involved in implementing multimedia activities?
There are four steps in implementing
multimedia activities;
deciding, designing, delivering and evaluating. Each step is important
for
different reasons. For starters you must decide what outcomes you are
striving
for, how you will assess these objectives, and what types of multimedia
will
you use. Once you understand what you are trying to accomplish you must
then
figure out how you will do this. What technology products are
available, will
you use groups, how long will each activity be and most importantly
creating
the lesson plans. After everything is planned out in your head and on
paper it
is time to put all that work to action. You must have and be able to
teach the
specific multimedia skills, manage the classroom environment and
facilitate the
students learning. After the lesson or unit is complete you must
evaluate the
students through the use of checklists, tests, papers, worksheets, oral
and
written questions and journals. Last but not least, you need to reflect
on the
lesson and make any changes needed to improve the lesson for the next
time you
teach it.
