Let's take a closer look...



While listening to the story, you heard many words that rhyme. The words that you heard had different sounds at the beginning and the same sounds at the end.
Let's take a closer look at the rhyming words you heard in the story "Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr. Suess.

I do not like them in a house
I do not like them with a mouse


Notice that the words house and mouse rhyme. They both begin with different sounds, but end with the same sound.
Let's take a look at another example from the book.
 

Would you eat them in a box?
Would you eat them with a fox?

Notice that the words box and fox rhyme. They both begin with different sounds, but end with the same sound.
Listen closely to the ending of words while we take a look at one more example from the book.


Would you? Could you? In a car?

Eat them! Eat them! Here they are!

Notice that the words car and are rhyme. In this example, the rhyming words end with similar sounds, but they are spelled differently!
