Beach Vocabulary
 
There is a lot of vocabulary that has to do with the beach.  There are many words to learn and be able to recognize that will help you when you are at the beach.  Below are some words and their definitions.


Sand: The very tiny, loose pieces of rock that cover the beaches. Beach Umbrella: A large umbrella used to block the sun while at the beach.

Rocks: Relatively hard, naturally formed mineral.  Also known as stones.  Waves:A moving ridge or swell on the surface of a body of water..
Fish:  Any of the various cold-blooded vertebrates that live in water, have gills, fins, and a tail, and move by swimming.Boat: A small, open vehicle for traveling on the surface of the water.Sun: The central star of the solar system around which the earth and other planets revolve and from which heat and light come from.  Seagull: A gull or bird, especially one that lives on or near the sea.
Beach Ball: A large inflatable ball or brightly colored plastic, that is used for games played in or near the water. Seashell: The shell of an ocean mollusk, that usually wash up on the shore.Sunscreen: A lotion that provides protection against the sun's rays and will prevent unburn. Crab: Any of the various ten-legged marine crustaceans, having broad, flat bodies, eyes on short stalks , and pincers on the front legs.
