Schools, teachers behind in technology use

In article Schools, teachers behind in technology use technology or lack thereof in the classroom is discussed.  The article points out that many children know more about technology than their teachers.  About every school in the U.S. is connected to the internet, according to the Education Department report on school technology there is one computer for every five students.  It still seems though that teachers lack the technical knowledge compared with their students.  The article reports one student saying that teachers go to workshops to learn more about technology.  Some schools districts such as Peabody Elementary School in St. Louis have students working on computers for assign readings and tutoring.  Although not all schools use this type of technology, some are on their way there.

I think that technology in the classroom is extremely important.  Students learn best when the information you teach can relate to them and technology is the best way to do that.  Students will be more interested because technology is a huge part of their world, which is different from when even college students now grew up.  Younger and young kids are joining this way of life and if teachers lag behind it will make it more difficult to get their point across.  Students aren’t going to have faith in their teachers if they feel they know more about technology then the person that is teaching them.  I believe this education class will help us as college students to learn way to involve technology in our classrooms everyday and maybe even for every lesson.
