The Battle of Gettysburg: Ordering the Events

Directions: Now that we have read a short passage about the Battle of Gettysburg, it is your job to determine when the following events occurred in the battle.  Below are 7 events.  Decide which one happened first.  When you think you know, mouse over the text box next to it to see if you are correct.  The first event has a 1.  Then, try to order all of the events in the same way. 

Events

On this day, the cavalry fought each other.  Pickett's Charge happened, which killed many Confederates.
Order: 6
General Lee wanted to move his troops up to Pennsyvania so that he could get away from Virginia.
Order: 1
On this day, the Union defended a group of fish-hook shaped hills.  General Lee moved a lot of troops to attack, but he was not successful.
Order: 5
The Confederates retreated south.
Order: 7
General Meade moved up to Pennsylvania to stop General Lee from going any further north.
Order: 2
General Lee concentrated his troops around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
Order: 3
On this day of battle, some Confederate generals A.P. Hill and George Ewell made the Union army retreat past the town of Gettysburg.
