The Policy for work in my class is as follows:

Homework is due at the beginning of class.  If it is received any time between the beginning of the class period and the end of the day, it will automatically have 50% deducted.  This means if homework if late but it is turned in on the same day, the highest grade you can get on it is 50%.  Once it is graded from there, the grade may be lower than 50% depending on the quality of the work. Work turned in “late” (after the beginning of class and before the end of the day) must be handed to me personally or placed in my mailbox in the main office.  Homework more than a day late will be given a 0. Homework cannot be made up. Homework is 20% of your grade.

Participation is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.  Come to class prepared and ready to participate!  The activities I have created are being used for a reason and if you do not participate then you will not excel in this class. Participation is 10% of your grade.

Quizzes will be given weekly – some will be announced, while other quizzes are unannounced.  Students must be ready at any time to be quizzed on information that we have talked about in class.  Depending on the topics being covered in class quizzes may range from a “fill in the blank style” to something where the student creates the entire answer from scratch.  Also, depending on the topic, there may be more than one short quiz in one week. Quizzes are 20% of your grade.

Tests will be given at the end of each unit.  Some tests will have speaking and listening sections, while others may be all writing.  I will hand out study guides for tests. Also, before tests we will review in class.  I will not put any information on tests that we do not cover in class.  Once all the tests are completed and graded, we will go over the tests in class. Tests count as 30% of your grade.

Projects will be a part of this course.  Some projects will need to be worked on outside of class, while others may be completed completely in class.  Projects must be completed by the date specified or will then lose 20% per day late.  That means that once a project is 5 school days late, it is a 0.  Projects cannot be redone. Projects are 20% of your grade.
