What is a 'tense'?

A tense is a grammatical catergory that locates a situation in time, to indicate when the situation takes place.  Some typical tenses are present, past, and future.


What tense are fairy tales written in?

Fairy Tales are set in the past tense because it is a story being told about something that already happened.
