How do you conjugate verbs in the present tense?


*Every verb in Spanish will have an -ar, -er, or -ir ending.

*These endings must be removed from the stem of the verb.
 
The stem of the verb is the verb minus its ending.

What are the present tense endings?


STEPS to conjugating verbs:

STEP 1Remove the ending of the verb.

Ejemplo:  HABLAR = habl
(habl is the stem)
STEP 2Find the appropriate ending  of the
verb according to its subject.
What ending would we use for the subject pronoun "yo"?
STEP 3Attach the ending to the stem of the verb.
Yo hablar = yo habl = yo hablo
