During a bullfight, there are three different stages of the event.  The first stage is when los picadores enter the ring.  They will try to stab the bull, or el toro, in the neck and try to anger it. 

                                                 



The second stage of the bullfight is when los banderilleros enter the ring.  Their job is to try to plant razor sharp sticks along the bull’s back to fatigue the bull, or el toro. 

                                                      



The third and final stage of the bullfight is when el matador enters the ring.  His job is to finish and kill the bull.  He will use his cape, or el capote, to position the bull correctly so he is able to insert his sword, or la espada, between the shoulder blades and through the heart of the bull!
