Reflections on the Learning Experiencs of the Technology
course
This technology course has taught me alot and I have grown so much
since the beginning of the semester. My patience has grown more
than anything, it is so frustrating some times working with computers
and having something go wrong. I have picked up alot of
technical skills from this course, I learned how to use Microsoft
publisher, I learned how to make a webquest, I learned how to use
puzzlemaker.com, I have learned so many technical skills that I will be
able to integrate in my classroom curriculum. The technoligical
skills that I learned are things that children will love to try, they
will intrigue the children and then the children will not even realize
that they are learning while they are playing. I feel
comfortable witha ll of these technological skills, there isn't one
that I wouldn't feel comfortable teaching to students.
The most important thing I learned in this course
was all of the technology that Shufang taught us. This technology
is so important to incorporate into today's classroom activities
because of the technological advance of our society today. By
teaching the students how to use this technology, they are then at hte
level of today's society.
Some of the exciting experiences that I had were
learning all the cool stuff that we could do, some of the frustrations
that I had with this course though were the technological
difficulties. Some times I would try and make a page and a
picture would not show up on it, however you may have had to wait a day
or two for it to fix and there would be no reason why.
We have used both teamwork and individual work in
this classroom and both have worked out well. On our WebQuest
project we worked in a group of 5 students to make a technological
quest for the students to learn about the rainforest. Another
project we did was the puzzlemaker. I did this project all by
myself, and that has some advantages compared to working in the
group. In a group, you have to check in with the others, get the
work done in a certain pace. But, working by myself I could work
at my own pace and only had to check in with myself.
However, working in a group has a greater advantage of ideas.
When you work in a group, there are so many more great ideas that you
can come up with.
Working in small groups is powerful, there can be a
greater exchange of ideas. This is a great thing to use in your
classroom. Because your students can learn so much from working
in groups, they can learn to collaborate, they learn to respect each
other, they will have a wealth of more ideas.
I can use all of these technology tricks that I
learned in this calss in my classroom. The students in my
classroom can also use all of these technological tricks. They
will benefit from working in groups, they will learn so many
technological tricks, and they will be valued so much by those
technological tricks they learned.
