Adverb Review:

An adverb is a word that modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb.

For example: The boy ran quickly down the hill.

How did the boy run? He ran quickly. Quickly modifies the verb ran.

Intensifying Adverbs:

A special kind of adverb that makes another word stronger or weaker in meaning. The examples that are on this site make the meaning stronger.

For example, if I say "I am hungry," I might be a little hungry or I might be a lot hungry.  If I say "I am very hungry!" then you know that I am a lot hungry!   Very changes the meaning of hungry so that it is stronger.
