Now let's look at how a diary is set up... |
A
diary is often set up like a letter and so it has many of the same
features. Here is a list of the names of the parts of a diary: Date: No matter what the purpose of the diary, it is always imprortant to keep track of what day it is when you are writing in your diary. Depending on the purpose of hte journal (Junie B. was writing only about one week, so she would just need to put the day of the week. Some people write in their diary every day. They would need to put the actual date, like in Mel's diary.) Salutation: This is a fancy word meaning "a word or phrase that is used to begin a letter." That's simple enough! Body: The main part of something written. In this case, the paragraphs where they tell you all the interesting stuff! Complimentary Close: The words that come before the signature of a letter. Signature: a person's name written in that person's handwriting. Now let's match these names with the correct part of the diary entry that we just read. Each number has two boxes. Please choose the correct term in the first box and then check your answer in the second. For example, next to the words "Day Four" you would choose "date" in the first box and then check your answer in the box below it. |
