Now, read the whole story one more time and think if the author is telling us something that already happened in the past, something that happens frequently, or something that will happen in the future.
I highlighted all the verbs in the simple present tense.
             

Speedy wakes up Clover.Luke wakes up Mommy and Daddy.

Grandpa wakes up to a nice cup of tea.
Clover sits on her little potty.Luke has his diaper changed.
Speedy goes outside.
Clover swallows a mug of milk.
Daddy drinks his milky coffee-in a hurry.
Kitty laps up her milk from a saucer.
Mommy drives to work in her car and
takes Clover to school on the way.

Daddy goes to work on the bus.

   Granny pushes Luke in his baby carriage.
At school Clover counts on her fingers.
Mommy works the cash register.

Daddy uses his calculator.
Clover eats school lunch.
Daddy goes to the fish and chips store.

Granny gives Luke a bottle.






Grandpa digs the holes.Granny plants the bulbs.
Clover covers the bulbs up with with earth.
Speedy digs them up later.
Daddy has a huge piece of chocolate cake.
Grandpa only eats the icing.

Clover licks the bowl.Kitty licks up the crumbs.
Mommy smiles. Clover giggles.Luke grins
Daddy
laughs l. Kitty purrs. Speedy wags his tail.
Granny chuckles (at Grandpa).
Granny has a bubble bath.Clover has a big bath.
Luke has a baby bath.Kitty washes herself.
Granny braids her hair and soaks her teeth.
