Reflections of Edu 314

    Before this course I was very uncertain of how to do a lot on the computer. I have grown by gaining technical skills acquired by learning how to upload images from NVu and linking documents and pictures to those pages to create my eportfolio. I am comfortable with googlesites, but I prefer working with NVu. I think that I have gained the skills necessary to do a project like this again without any problems. I think that everything we learned in this course is important because if I did not understand all of the different programs and steps involved then I would not have been able to create my eportfolio as well as I did. In my future teaching I will be able to use the skills I learned throughout this course to help enhance my classroom curriculum and create such fun and interesting projects for my students.
    At first I felt very overwhelmed by this project. I do not know anything about computers so I thought that I would not uncerstand anything that was said in class. As it turns out, I was able to catch on quickly. There were some aspects that were more difficult for me to get the hang of, such as uploading all of my files to filezilla. I had problems making sure that everything was linked together and getting the images to show on my page. I also found it to be irritating how you had to personalize all of the page colors and backgrounds separately for each page instead of having them set already when I linked a new document to my project. I just thought that it was time consuming and annoying, it was not difficult. Each time I learned something new I wanted to try it out and continue to make more projects. The most exciting experience throughout the entire course was when my webseite was online. I called my mom and told her to go on the computer to check it out and she was all excited because she could see what I had done in class.
    I worked for the majority of my portfolio by myself but I did need the help of my peers a lot during the semester. There were some times when I would miss a step and then be completely lost so my peers would show me what to do. I like the freedom of working alone and designing the pages how I want to, but having a support system within the class was definitely very helpful.
    I am certain that when I become a teacher the classrooms will have a lot more technology and I will be required to include such technology in my teaching. I would like to include projects using the programs we learned about in this course in my future classroom. I want my students to be comfortable with computers and understand how technology can enhance their learning. I'm glad that I was able to learn the technology presented in this course because I will be able to incorporate it into my future classroom.
