Project # 7
Annotation
During this project I learned a lot of valuable skills.
This project taught me how to use a puzzle maker program on the
internet to create a crossword puzzle. The website used was http://puzzlemaker.school.discovery.com/.
This website helps you create puzzles relating to whatever topic you
are teaching. I chose to do Earth Day. I entered in the topic I wanted,
then selected the words I wanted to use, and what style puzzle I wnated
to create. This is an excellent website because after entering all the
information it was instantly created! I just had to copy and paste my
puzzle into Microsoft Word. I then used the pront screen button to copy
the entire screen and paste it into the Paint program. After pasting, I
was able to crop just the puzzle portion and save it as a picture. I
then inserted the picture of my puzzle on this screen as a link to the
actual puzzle. I think the picture is very convenient because it gives
a preview of what the puzzle looks like.
This project was extremely beneficial to me. I
learned a lot of new skills relating to technology. I never knew what
the print screen button was used for before this project. I also
learned how to take something from Microsoft Word and convert it to the
Paint program. I also really enjoyed being able to use the picture of
the puzzle as a link to the actual puzzle itself. I was definitely take
these skills with me into my classroom and share them with my students.
I feel a lot more computer literate now! The program I used to create
this puzzle is also an excellent resource to take advantage of in the
future!
