Class Calendar and Class Newsletter This project involved using Microsoft Publisher to create a calander and a newsletter. I learned how to use many different features of Publisher. We developed a theme as a group but it was a little bit difficult because we were all working on seperate computers creating our own unique newsletter and calendar. However, it was nice because we were able to split up the work of writing the articles and get the newsletter finished more efficiently. I also learned how to use the Print Screen button to take a picture of the screen and then copy it into Paint. I used the Paint program to crop the picture so that I just had a picture of my calendar and newsletter. This allowed me to put a picture of my projects on my webpage. Then, I used WS_FTP to upload my project so it can be viewed. I found some different resources for Microsoft Publisher that I think might be helpful to someone learning to use the program. Here are some helpful resources: Download Publisher, get tips, and find templates Templates and Tutorials Tips on using publisher in the classroom Learn how to create banners Part 1-Class Calendar
For this part of the project, I created a calendar in Microsoft Publisher. I use Publisher to change the color scheme and add in different events on the calander. I worked with Melissa and Kelsey to come up with a nutrition theme for the calander. We used some of the dates for events that we had listed on our newsletter and then worked on it a little by ourselves. I learned how to change the format of the calendar to add descriptions of the events. I think that Publisher would be a valuable tool in the classroom to inform parents of what was happening. If I were to use the program in my class I would include the description of events so parents know exactly what is going on. I think that students could also use the program to create a calendar of their goals for reading and writing assignments. This way students could have fun and become organized. Using publisher to make calanders is a good way to help the whole classroom community to become organized. Our group made a nutrition newsletter to go with our nutrition calendar. We came up with the theme of our newsletter together and then split up the stories so that we could each write one or two. Then, we each created our own color scheme and layout. I learned how to change the pictures that I was using and delete or add pages to the newsletter. This newsletter would be very helpful to make for students. I could make a whole newsleter that focuses on the ocean and have the students read different articles or do the activities in the newsletter throughout our unit. The newsletter could also be used to send home to parents much like our newsletter informed parents of what the children would be dealing with in terms of nutrition and of the different resoWe developed a theme as a group but it was a little bit difficult because we were all working on seperate computers creating our own unique newsletter and calendar.
