This project is an elementary school website made by Kelsey McCabe, Melissa McCarthy, and I.  We created the site to gain more experience in creating websites and to get ideas as to what we can do with our own schools in the future.  By working in a group we were able to use all of our creative efforts to create one website.  In doing so we learned different skills from each other.     
             To create this website we used the web authoring tool Nvu.  We looked at some examples of real elementary school websites to gather ideas and think about what we wanted to do.  After we had finished the website we published it using WS_FTP.  Publishing this website was different from our personal site because all of the information was on one person's flash drive.  We had to transfer all of the files from one flash drive on to the others so that each group member had the same information and all of the links would work.  
               When I start teaching, I hope that the school I am at has their own functioning website.  Parents would be able to see school calendars and lunch menus.  Children could even find their class website and look at assignments.  With a school website already in place, it would be very easy to then set up a class website that I could use for the children and parents.  If there was not a school website, I will now have the knowledge of how to create one.  

Smith Elementary School Website
