The purpose of this project is to become familiar with and utilize a given website in order to create puzzles. I created my own word search by using PuzzleMaker.com from the Discovery Education website. Besides PuzzleMaker.com, I also used Microsoft Word 2007, Paint, and NVu in creating, uploading, and finishing my puzzle. I specifically chose to create a puzzle based on Parts of Plants, and once it was created I was able to copy and paste it into Microsoft Word, save it, and then copy and paste it into Paint in order to crop it to perfection before uploading it into NVu. Throughout this project I also learned how to create a link off of an image. This project familiarized me with a very useful website, which will definitely come in handy in my future classroom. Word puzzles are a great way for students to review specific vocabulary words and concepts in a fun and engaging manner, and by utilizing this resource puzzles will be quick and simple to create.
