Project #9 Reflection on
Course
This class has been so beneficial
to me. I am so proud of myself, because I now
know how to do things that I would not have even tried to learn for
fear of failure. You
as a professor have pshed
us and it has strengthened me tremendously. My fiancee always
did all kinds of cool projects with the computer and I would always
look at his work
thinking that he must have been born with a computer gene, but now that
I have taken this
course, I know almost as much as him. Just yesterday, he looked
at my webpage and shared
with me how proud he was, thanks to you. So, as an answer to your
question, yes ma'am I know I have grown in this course and I am more
confident in myself.
I now am familiar with
many programs, such as Microsoft Word, Composer, PowerPoint, web
design, Publisher, and Paint. I have used most of them before but
only on an elementary level. I could only do the very basic
things, but now I feel so comfortable using the programs. There
are still many things that I do not know about the programs, but over
all I have learned so much more than I ever thought I could learn in
such a short semester.
I also had frustrations
with this course, such as images showing up on my documents, but not on
my webpage, the layout changing on some pages once uploaded, not being
able to understand your accent clearly sometimes, having trouble
downloading WSFTP on my computer at home, and trying to transfer
information from one flashdrive to another when working in
groups. The positives in the course definitely outweighed the
frustrations, though. I just had to keep a good attitude and an
open mind for correction and frustrations, knowing that they will
pass.
My favorite project
out of all 8 was creating a photo story with pictures of
ourselves. It gave me a chance to finally show everyone who I am
marrying and I feel like people care more about that project because it
is so personal. Learning photo story has also helped me in
another of my EDU classes. I was able to make a photo story of
people from the Industrial Revolution and then add an old union song
behind it. It should be very powerful. Oh yeah, did I
mention how proud I am of myself?
We worked individually most
of the time, but in groups some also, and I have to say that I enjoyed
working individually the best. It is hard for me to do group work
because I live in Syracuse, so I am not on campus to meet with my group
members. That has been a huge issue, because it seems like every
assignment in Block 1 has been group work, and it is frustrating for me
and also for my group, and I do not think me not being there for group
meetings is fair to them either, but they have all been very
understanding and worked well with me. I chose the alternative to
just e-mail everything to them that I would have brought to the
meeting.
That pretty much sums
up my semester. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and I want to thank
you for being consistent with the due dates of assignments, because
some of my other teachers have not gone by the syllabus since the first
week of school and that has been a huge frustration not knowing when
things are due, and you also have been very understanding if a person
needs an extension on an assignment. Those small things that you
have done have made all the difference in the world, because I knew
what was due and when it was due and if something came up and I could
not do it then, you would be fair and give me a little extra
time. So, thank you very much for doing your part and making this
class very enjoyable with your enthusiasm on the topics.
