It
is very important that a student be in a
technology based classroom, and especially if the teacher is familiar
with the technology. A lot of times, a class will be fortunate
enough to be able to have computers and elmos, etc., but the teacher
might not be familiar with how to use all of it, resulting in the
students never learning of the technology, either. Teachers
should be well-trained in all types of technology that could be in
classrooms, and older teachers who are still teaching that have no idea
how to use technology should have to go to at least a few classes on
the basics of using technology in a classroom. It changes a
lot. Get ready future teachers for the
technology. You can forget all of the old-fashioned routines
we're all used to.
One way that the teacher uses technology in the classroom is
instead of the teacher taking attendance and then a student taking
the attendance sheet to the office, it is now all done on
computers. Another example would be the elmos. The elmos
are like a projector that's attached to the ceiling and projects onto a
screen on the wall. Movies, powerpoints, anything really, can be shown
with an elmo. Teachers no longer have to wheel in the huge cart
with the television on it.

Technology productivity tools
It is crucial that students not only have technology available in their
classrooms, but that they are able to use it frequently. They
must learn how to do new things. By using this technology, the
students will enjoy projects more because they don't always have to
write a 8-10 page paper; they can do different things like
powerpoint, paintbrush, word, composer, word art, etc. They can
be so much more creative.
One example of the students using technology is doing a powerpoint with
10 slides of questions and answers about their partner, like an
interview. Another would be having the students use paintbrush to
create a picture of whatever they are currently studying. They
could do word acrostics with word art. They would love
that. It just really broadens a child's mind when he/she learns
new things.
