Learn English through Songs

English words and phrases need to be repeated again and again to remember. So...what can be better than studying English by listening to your favourite songs? Here you can listen to one of my favorite song from Avril Lavigne and go through the following steps. Keep-Holding-On.mp3

First, just enjoy the song! While enjoying the melody without worrying about the lyrics, give it a try to figure out the topic or at least the emotion expressed by the song.

Second, play the song again. This time, listen to it and read the lyrics at the same time and check your first guess about the topic. You don’t have to understand the lyrics word by word, just try to find out what the song is all about.

Third, listen to the song again with the lyrics. Find some words or phrases from the song that you want to learn. If they can't be understood in the song, look up their exact meaning in a dictionary.

And then, to memorize these words or phrases, all you have to do is to listen to the song again and again.(Note: For beginners, slow and clear songs are better choices; ‘rap’ might not be a good choice for learners at any level as it usually contains slang words that are rarely used and the speed is too fast.)

Remember: Interest is the best teacher and let the music turn you on!
