El Pretérito
  • In the article as I am sure many of you figured out the blue verbs were in the past tense.
  • This tense is called El Pretérito. It is used to express completed  actions in the past.
  • The endings for El Pretérito  are in the chart to the right.

  • There are some irregulars in this tense.
  • Notice that ser and ir are the same in this tense.

  • We also saw several irregulars in the article that have root changesin the preterite tense .
  • To the right you can see a chart that shows the verbs with irregular roots in the preterite El Pretérito.
  • Notice that the endings are different from regular preterite verbs and that the endings are the same for all irregulars(despite having different infinitive endings).
