At the age when most todlers were learning to walk and talk Teddy Geiger astonished his parents by hopping up on the family piano and banging out tunes as early as 3-years-old. With no classical training Teddy learned to play a wide variety of instruments including the guitar, keyboards, bass, drums, and trombone. Teddy began writing songs at just 8-years-old and by 11 he was recording the songs he had composed; one of the first songs he wrote was called "Little Tommy Blackbird." He grew up jamming with his cousins in the studio in his basement for fun, and eventually realized he might one day be able to make a career out of it.
In his teens he and his friends formed a band called Faction, and the band won the hearts of many fellow classmates, as well as a local battle of the bands contest that got them $1,000. The bands winnings were donated towards Tsunami relief.
At 15, Teddy's mother coaxed him into trying out for the part of Keith Partridge on VH1's "In Search of the Partridge Family." While he didn't win, he did make it into the finals out of thousands of potentials, and he would have won the part had he not been so young. It was at these auditions that he was discovered by well known producer Billy Mann, who previously had discovered the likes of Sting, Pink, Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, and others. Teddy showed up to the studio with about 80 cd's worth of his music he recorded. He was a hit with Columbia Records and was signed almost immediately.
At 16, Teddy went on to begin playing shows in and around his hometown of Rochester NY early in 2005, and by the end of June he was picked up on the Hilary Duff tour opening for her with "One Tree Hill" star Tyler Hilton. Over the summer of 2005 his musical ability, his voice, and his stage presence grew with leaps and bounds until he made his way back to Central NY in September.
At 17, after the hype of the tour, he returned back to a more subdued life playing smaller gigs at colleges and clubs while awaiting the release of his first album "Underage Thinking,"in March 2006. He also had a role in the VH1 show "Love Monkey," in January of 2006, in which he will appeared in opposite the likes of Tom Cavanaugh, Jason Priestly, Larenze Tate, and Judy Greer.
Now 18, Teddy's remarkable musical talent coupled with his mysterious good looks will help rocket him to the top in no time. He recently finished his first full scale headlining tour of the US and will be touring other countries later this year. Be sure to catch him at a show near you!!
