Candelaria concolor

 

Small-lobed, lemon yellow foliose lichen. No apothecia. often fusing into large colonies. marginal isidiate-granular soredia. lower surface white with sparse white rhizines. usually negative on all spot tests.This small foliose lichen is common in secondary succession forests along the edge. Requiring high sunlight this species will not be found deep in either forest area unless it is in a clearing. This specimen was collected from white ash (Fraxinus americana) in the secondary succession forest area.
