Lepraria lobificans

 

Minty-green to blueish crustose lichen. Appearing dusty and fragile. forming on rocks, may appear nearly foliose. Thallus with stictic acid complex (K+ yellow).Commonly found growing on rock as well as tree trunks this species is more commonly found in the climax forest area. It requires relatively low light and high moisture due to a thin thallus. This specimen was collected from a steep rocky embankment composed of shale on the edge of a stream in the climax forest area.
