Mineral grey foliose lichen found on wood, cylindrical isidia appearing laminally. Apothecia thalline and red.  Thallus with salazinic acid complex (K+ yellow to red).Common in eastern North America growing on trees. This species was found in both the secondary succession and climax forest areas. The specimen pictured above was collected from a white ash (Fraxinus americana) in the secondary succession forest.
