Medium sized brown foliose lichen. Upper surface peppered with irregular isidia. Lower surface centrally dark becoming lighter at thew margins with low, narrow, distinct veins. Simple fasciculate rhizines. No lichen substances.Rare in climax forest and not found in secondary succession forest. Only one specimen was discovered in the climax forest. This specimen was collected from a basswood tree (Tilia americana), near Hoxie Gorge stream in the climax forest area, P. evansiana requires a moist area and does not fare well in areas that receive increased levels of air pollution.
