Phaeophyscia pusilloides

 

Narrow lobed mineral-grey foliose lichen forming rosettes. Soralia capitate upon ascending lobes. Lower surface heavily rhizinated with rhizines extending beyond lobe margins. Green when wet with no lichen substances. Common in temperate forests on hardwood trees. While found in both the secondary succession and climax forest areas this species in much more common in the secondary succession forest. This specimen was collected from an apple tree in the secondary succession forest.

* This species is distinguished from P. rubropulchra by its white medulla.
