Punctelia rudecta

 

Common foliose lichen; identified by the white punctate pseudocyphellae that dot the cortex and darkened isidia. Lower surface tan, apothecia uncommon.Commonly found growing on downed and standing trees. This specimen was collected from an eastern hemlock (Tsuga canadendis) in the climax forest area; however this species if found in both the climax and secondary succession forest areas.
