During this semester I learned a lot from taking this course. I have defiantly learned from this course. My skills using a PC have gotten so much stronger. I have always used a Mac computer and my PC skills have grown so much during this course. I had never used NVU, photo story, or publisher and really enjoyed playing around with the programs and my skills with these programs have really developed.
I think the most important thing that I learned in this class was learning how to make a website and how to publish it on the internet so that everyone can see it. I think this is important because I think this will be the thing I will use most in my future career. When I am a teacher I will use these skills that I learned and will probably make a website for my students and parents. Technology is such an important and growing aspect in education, so teachers are expected to make websites from their class. Before this class I had no clue how websites are made, so this course is really going to help me in the future. That’s why I think learning how to use NVU and publish the websites are the most important thing that I learned in this course.
I had the most frustrations with NVU and getting everything to line up and look the same when it was actually on the internet and published. I had a lot of trouble linking all the pages for my web quest. Since we all emailed our pages to each other I had a lot of trouble linking all my groups’ pages together. After spending a whole class time on it, the linking finally worked and they all worked.
I liked working both by myself and with a group in this course. Working by myself forced me to learn how each new program work with little help from others. I also like working with a group, we all did our own pages and helped each other but then brought them all together and formed one big project. When we were working in groups we all helped each other and learned from each other and it was a lot of help. There was a good balance of using group work and individual work that I really liked.
My favorite project to work on in this course was the photo story. I have done this kind of thing on a MAC computer but again I really enjoyed learning how to do it on a PC. I really like exploring this program and putting all my pictures of my life together. Also putting music and different effects in my photo story was a lot of fun. Making the photo story was my favorite project in this course.
I really enjoyed this course, I learned so much information about different programs, making a website and other things that I will use for my future teaching career. I know that I will use this knowledge that I obtained from this course in the future, and I am really excited to try it out in the real world.
