Digital Storytelling
My
favorite project was the digital storytelling. In order to make
it more meaningful and purposeful for me, I did a project
for my mom. I had
to scan pictures onto my desktop computer at home, save it to my flash
drive, and then download it onto my laptop before I could do the
project. I had trouble saving the pictures from my scanner.
Of course, I didn ALL of the pictures before I realized that.
I went to bed frustrated, but then I had an epipheny. I
could copy the pictures onto my flashdrive (something I had learned
from this course). In the morning I tried it and VOILA! it
worked! Frustration gave way to relief. I used multiple computers
to do this project and was thrilled that I knew how to port information
from one source to another. My laptop had a microphone jack as well as
the headphone
jack. I used the desk top at home for the scanning, and the two
labs on campus to finish the project. Using the Photostory 3 from
Microsoft, I put together a
presentation with pictures, narration, subtitles and music. I
even found out that I could vary the music throughout the presentation.
I had to narrate a few times because the acoustics in some places
were inadequate. I am very pleased with the way it turned out.
I would like to use it in the classroom to make special presentations
for the kids. What a great way to document a year- maybe I will
do a DVD for the class to keep.
