Peter J. Capell

Senior Vice President;
President, International
Marketing & Sales



Peter Capell became president of International Marketing & Sales on July 1, 2007.

He was previously president of the Big G cereal division, where he was responsible for the marketing of all General Mills cereals. He assumed that role in April 2004.

Capell joined General Mills in 1985 and held a variety of marketing positions in the Betty Crocker and Big G divisions before being named Manager of Recruiting in 1988. He returned to the Betty Crocker division in 1989 and managed several successful new dessert launches before becoming president of Snacks Unlimited in 1997, where he managed the team that led the financial turnaround of that business. He was elected senior vice president of General Mills in May 2000.

Capell is a board member of Arts Midwest, the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts and the National Council of LaRaza.

Capell graduated with highest honors from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a B.A. in history, and he received his MBA degree in 1985 from Harvard University.
