General Mills Ranks in Top 10 on Working Mother “100 Best” List

Working Mother magazine honors General Mills for the 12th time in annual “100 Best Companies” feature

09/25/2007

Working Mother magazine today named General Mills a 2007 Working Mother Best Company for Working Mothers.  Working Mother’s “100 Best Companies” feature celebrates employers whose family-friendly programs, flexibility and company wide benefits ensure the retention and advancement of working mothers.

“General Mills understands that mothers’ lives are complex,” said Kelly Baker, vice president of corporate diversity at General Mills. “By providing strong career growth opportunities for working mothers to pursue and offering flexibility and convenience resources as their lives change, we support a large and valuable part of our work force. We find that this commitment also helps us attract and keep the best talent.”

The number of female officers at General Mills has more than doubled in the past 10 years, in large part due to the growth of formal and informal women’s networking and mentoring groups and work/life balance resources.

“Every year our winning companies raise the bar for what it means to be an employer of choice for working families,” said Carol Evans, CEO and president, Working Mother Media.  “General Mills not only offers essential benefits — they go above and beyond with a range of best practices and policies to ease the difficulties for working parents and their families.”

Methodology
General Mills was selected for the 2007 Working Mother 100 Best Companies based on an extensive application of 575 questions.  The application included detailed questions about work force, compensation, child care and flexibility programs, leave policies and more.
