1.) Are you involved in this recall of peanut butter products associated with Peanut Corporation of America?
Peanut Corporation of America is not a direct supplier of peanut butter to General Mills; however, it was a supplier to one of our contract manufacturers.
As the scope of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) investigation into this outbreak expanded, Peanut Corporation of America expanded its recall to additional lot codes of peanut butter.
The new lot codes included some lots of peanut butter that had been sold by PCA to a supplier that produces peanut butter flavored bars for LÄRABAR and JamFrakas, prompting General Mills to issue its own voluntary national recall of two products: LÄRABAR Peanut Butter Cookie flavor bars and JamFrakas Peanut Butter Blisscrisp flavor bars.
No illnesses have been reported in connection with LÄRABAR or JamFrakas products, and no other types, varieties or flavors of LÄRABAR or JamFrakas are being recalled.
2.) Why are you recalling these products?
Peanut butter produced by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) has been implicated in an outbreak of salmonellosis. PCA is not a direct supplier of peanut butter to General Mills; however, it was a supplier to one of our vendors.
3.) Are any of General Mills’ other products involved?
No other General Mills products are involved. No other General Mills products are impacted in any way.
4.) Are any of LÄRABAR’s or JamFrakas’ other products involved?
No. No other types, varieties or flavors of LÄRABAR or JamFrakas products are involved, and none of those products are being recalled.
