Yoplait® Celebrates 10th Anniversary of Save Lids to Save Lives® and Sustained Commitment to Fight Against Breast Cancer

Yoplait Presents Concert Featuring Music Icon and Breast Cancer Survivor Sheryl Crow

09/11/2008

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (September 9, 2008) – This year marks the milestone 10th anniversary of Save Lids to Save Lives®, Yoplait®’s signature pink lid program, which calls for men and women to take action to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer. To date, Yoplait has donated more than $19 million to the breast cancer cause. As part of this year’s awareness-raising efforts, Yoplait will celebrate 10 years of dedication to the fight against the disease by hosting an anniversary concert featuring breast cancer survivor/music icon Sheryl Crow.

“This year’s campaign is a celebration of what has been accomplished in the fight against the disease in the past ten years, but also an important reminder of the work that still needs to be done,” said Tammy Sadinsky Martin of Yoplait. “Every lid really matters and with the help from people across the country, we can raise up to $1.5 million for the cause this year.”

Yoplait’s commitment to the fight against breast cancer is really about the power of many – asking individual people to come together for one important cause and to make a difference. In September and October, special pink lids will top Yoplait yogurt cups, and for every lid saved and mailed in through December 31, 2008, Yoplait will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, up to $1.5 million with a guaranteed minimum donation of $500,000.

This year, Yoplait is celebrating Save Lids to Save Lives with a 10th Anniversary Concert featuring Sheryl Crow. The concert will take place on 10/10/08, at 8:00 p.m. PT, at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA. Supporters can call 1-877-MY-TEN-LIDS and order up to two free tickets per household to the show (while supplies last). Tickets will be distributed via mail and attendees are asked to present 10 pink Yoplait lids at the door with their ticket. Yoplait has pledged to donate $1.00 per pink Yoplait lid collected at the concert to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, equaling a $10 donation per guest.

"As a breast cancer survivor, I am a testament to the importance of early detection and new treatments,” said Sheryl Crow. “I encourage women and men everywhere to advocate for themselves and for their future. Supporting programs such as Yoplait’s Save Lids to Save Lives helps to provide the needed funding for awareness and research efforts to help fight breast cancer. You can make a difference."

People can join Sheryl’s lid collection efforts on www.YourLidMatters.com, through a new online program that allows people to create teams with their family and friends to support the fight against breast cancer. The Web site features lid collection tools such as downloadable posters and bin labels, recruit-a-friend emails and customizable send-to-a-friend eCards, a lid-tracking widget to personalize your blog or MySpace page and customizable digital downloadables to spread the word through online social networking Web sites. The Web site provides another outlet for people to connect in support of Save Lids to Save Lives and the breast cancer cause.

“We are proud of the Save Lids to Save Lives program and our partnership with Yoplait, through which we’ve been able to communicate the importance of breast health to countless women and men,” said Hala Moddelmog, Chief Executive Officer of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. “We encourage everyone to know their risk, get screened, know what is normal for them and make healthy lifestyle choices.”

Yoplait’s relationship with Susan G. Komen for the Cure began in 1999 with the company’s sponsorship of Race Volunteers. In 2000, the company became the national sponsor and in 2001, the national presenting sponsor of the Race for the Cure®.
