There's more buzz than usual going around about Honey Nut Cheerios. That's because Honey Nut Cheerios, along with BuzzBee, the Honey Nut Cheerios Bee, is celebrating its 25th Anniversary.
To mark the occasion, Honey Nut Cheerios has developed a special recipe for a 25th Anniversary Honey Nut Cheerios Snack Mix. Honey Nut Cheerios also is donating 25,000 Honey Nut Cheerios mini race cars to The Boys & Girls Club of America as part of the group's National KidsDay on August 1. The race cars will be distributed among the Boys & Girls Clubs in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas.
This fall, Honey Nut Cheerios will be working with Bill Lester, who drives the #22 NASCAR Craftsman Truck, to help spread the word about the risk of heart disease and the importance of taking care of your heart. Lester's recipe for heart health – with tips on how he stays healthy and active – will appear on packages of Honey Nut Cheerios.
Introduced in 1979, Honey Nut Cheerios quickly became a favorite among families by combining the great taste of whole grain oat cereal, along with golden honey and almonds. But more recently, families discovered a whole new reason to love Honey Nut Cheerios, because it also contains soluble fiber. As part of a heart-healthy eating plan, the soluble fiber in Honey Nut Cheerios can help lower cholesterol. Honey Nut Cheerios is certified by the American Heart Association, as it meets the Association's food criteria for saturated fat and cholesterol for healthy people over age 2.
“We're all trying to eat better, take care of ourselves and do what we can to improve the health of the people we love - while still enjoying great taste,” said Bruce Vonstein, Honey Nut Cheerios marketing manager. “That's why Honey Nut Cheerios has been so popular with families. It's low in fat, provides 13 essential vitamins and minerals, including calcium, and can help lower cholesterol – all with the wholesome goodness of honey and almonds that can be enjoyed both for breakfast and snacks.”
Honey Nut Cheerios was the first line extension to General Mills' popular Cheerios franchise. The franchise includes Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios, Frosted Cheerios, Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, MultiGrain Cheerios, Team Cheerios, and Berry Burst Cheerios.
