PORTFOLIO
Below you will find some activism focused projects focusing on topics such as environmental racism, diversity, and the efforts of a local animal shelter here in Cortland.
STORIFY
The water crisis that is still going on in Flint, Michigan began as an epidemic of sorts. A big question that has come up is whether this is a case of environmental racism? Click the image below to see my storify page reporting the crisis and why environmental racism exists.
NEWS REPORT
This news article goes more into depth and detail about the concern that environmental racism could have led to the Flint water crisis. "Claims of environmental racism arise as the town of Flint is mostly black and a good amount are poor as well. Would more have been done ahead of time if the community were white and rich? Would the problem have ever even occurred?" Click on the image below to read a PDF version.
AUDIO SLIDESHOW
I worked with the Cortland Race Project to create an audio slideshow highlighting their new social media revival. They base their social media after a popular blog, known as, Humans of New York in order to tackle race and diversity. Watch the slideshow by clicking on the image below.
VIDEO PROJECT
I chose to base my video project on the latest news at the SPCA Animal Shelter in Cortland. The shelter does everything that they can to stay true to their mission statement. To learn more about the shelter's most urgent news, click on the image below.
