EDU
314 was an incredibly helpful helpful class that will be beneficial for
years to come.
In taking this course, I learned several new computer skills
that I will be able to use in my future as a teacher. I had never made
a website before, or used the majority of programs we used throughout
this course, and often wondered how these were made; I now
understand how to use NVU, microsoft
publishers, microsoft photo story, and certain tools on
microsoft word and paint that I had not previously known about. Having
this knowledge will not only be very helpful in creating fun
activities for my students, but will also be useful for current
projects or other various activities .
Learning about these programs took quite a
bit of time and was often rather frustrating, nonetheless, the class
was very enjoyable and I feel much more technilogically confident now
that I
have so many new skills. I was always thankful when given
direction and
had fun discovering new ways of doing things and seeing how
everything worked "behind the scenes".
I truly believe it is important for students to be able to work on
their own, gaining comprehension through trial and error, curiousity,
and exploring -- while recieving guidance whenever needed. Though
this may sometimes seem difficult and at times test students'
patience, it encourages them to expand their knowledge on their own,
sharing and learning
with their classmates throughout the process.
Each of the projects we made could easily be
incorportated into a classroom setting or used for other various
events. I could see the Webquest being particularly beneficial
for students, though throughout this course I found the Webquest to be
the most difficult project to create. This was mainly
because it was made using the Google website, which I unfortunately
found incredibly
difficult to manipulate. Learning about computers, websites,
and technology throughout the semester has helped me to understand
how to teach these programs to my future students. I hope to put my new
skills to use with my class and encourage them to work together, as I
did,
with their classmates to expand their knowledge of technology. Overall, I really enjoyed everything I learned from EDU 314 and know that I well use these skills throughout my
teaching career to create fun, quality lesson activities.
