The Purpose of this project was to make our own website and publish it. In order to make the actual webpage we had to use a program called Nvu. This program can be used to create both, personal and professional ePortfolios. Within Nvu I learned to add pictures and links. To publish the website I had to use a program called WS_FPT. While using this program I learned how to publish the website by transferring files to the internet. I found that every time a page needed to be edited, I had to fix the page in Nvu then publish it again by transferring the file through WS_FPT. Changing the file names seemed to be the most frustrating because it would break the link to the site. Once the link was broken I had to go through each page and make sure I changed the link to make it work once again. I think learning about how to make websites and publish them will be useful for future teachers. We will then have the skills to publish websites to provide students and parents with information. This will help students and parents alike to become more involved in using the internet. I think my future students will also appreciate the use of this kind of technology that I can make available for them.
